M.G. (Marcus Gerald) was
born in Duluth, Minnesota in 1951. As a small child M.G. struggled
with constant poor health. As a result he missed a great deal
of school, his grades suffered and M.G. ended up in special education
classes, bringing further emotional pain into a already difficult
young life.
His father, an engineer, got
M.G. interested in science and sports. His mother, a nurse, directed
her son into music and also sports. Slowly M.G. got stronger
in body and mind. Various sports and violin lessons had a positive
effect. Grades improved and life was looking up.
When M.G. was 14 his father died
suddenly. M.G.'s mother moved the family to Bismarck, N.D. to
be near her relatives.
It was while attending high school
that M.G. would start the sport that would shift the direction
of his life for the next 25 years: gymnastics. As a gymnast in
high school and college M.G. won several state, regional and
national titles including two O.C.A.A. (Outstanding College Athlete
of America) award plus 1972 All American.
Upon graduating from college
M.G. turned his efforts to coaching. After starting and running
several successful gymnastics clubs, his gymnasts won many state,
regional, plus national titles, and M.G. went on to also coach
several American teams.
After retiring from the sport
in 1990 M.G. has traveled the U.S. as a assembly speaker in Physics
and Mathmatics to young people, encouraging them to improve their
lives through a good education and a positive attitude.
M.G. currently lives with his
God given bride of 30 years, Sheila Mae, in Bismarck, N.D.
While traveling across America
M.G. has written several short story books for children designed
to bring encouragement and hope to their lives.
M.G.'s motivation to write to
children came from his own life, but even more importantly from
another event that changed his life for all eternity. On Dec.
17. 1971, while recovering from knee operation, M.G. received
Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord. Their are no words
in the language of humanity to express what God did through his
Son Jesus in redeeming us from death to life by Jesus death and
resurrection.
The books M.G. has written are
designed to let children of all ages know how much God loves
them. As Jesus said in his own words in Matthew 19:14; ''suffer
the little children and forbid them not, to come onto me: for
such is the kingdom of Heaven.''
As M.G. once said, ''It
is my greatest desire and prayer that through my books children
of all ages will come to know the love of God through Jesus Christ
His Son, and because of that love they will have hope for their
lives now in this life and a hope in glory for all eternity.''
